I am in a council house, over 30 yrs old.. and have decided to sand all the timberwork down.I have been told the stairs is made from white deal, anyway its pretty knocked up with nails hammered down far and cant be removed....I got a winey coloured carpet steps to go on it ...I want to know what is [1]fastest way to deal with timber .ie. paint or varnish if varnish ..what type...???I have brown satin but no undercoat...I have children and can only do this one step at a time due to heavy traffic all day on the stairs...only one toilet.. Thanks for reading and any advice appriciated..

I'd highly recomend a Yaucht Varnish
This would be very hard waring

Our a Ronseal quick drying varnish you could do the full stairs and it would be dry in 2 hours
