    Hi Folks,

Its my dads birthday on Sat the 19th of march and I'm looking out an offers on some courses we dont normally get to play if the price is right.

We play Headford and knightbrook regularly so maybe something in dublin or wicklow. I have heard great things about the European club but I think it maybe too expensive. Any other offers going around Dublin, kildare, wicklow etc..

    Thanks
    Kev.

Maybe give a links course a try if you regularly play parkland. I think Baltray is around the 60 mark with no requirements to play off mats. Great course too. Id skip The Island and Royal Dublin as they close their fairways till April as far as im aware. European is defo worth the drive down. Terrific course and fees can be negotiated. Good luck with whatever you choose.

The European club is doing a great deal for Mon/Tue/Thursday up to the end of match.
    130 for a 4 ball, or if theres 3 of you it's 35 quid a person.
I rang them last week and got out on the 28th for less than 30 quid a man.
St.Patricks day is not counted in the offer but my advice is to get booked in for another of the mon/tue/thur up to the end of the month.
After that it goes back to 100+ for a round.

    Yours etc,
    GSH.

Would you consider going as far as Wexford? Rosslare Golf club is a smashing links course and very good rates at this time of year. The links course would be something different. www.rosslaregolf.com

    Best of luck.

European on a Saturday is still pricey enough. About €100 and not much room to negotiate over a weekend. The Island wasn't playing off mats when I was there a few weeks back, but there were temporary greens (3 or 4). Not sure about getting out on a Saturday though.

Baltray is a good bet if you fancy links. Or even Arklow which is one that few people talk about.

Elsewhere around Dublin/Wicklow - consider Macreddin in Aughrim, Druid's Heath if you want a serious challenge, or Druid's Glen for a bit more cash.

Have you thought about Killeen Castle, which is not far from you (if Knightsbrook and Headfort are regular haunts). And two others worth a mention are New Forest (Westmeath) and Rathcore - also not that far from you.

Whatever you choose, be sure to ask whether fairways are in play and if there are any temporary greens.

    Hi Folks,

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I will definetly try out the european during the week before the end of march so thanks for that.

In the end my sisters and mum chipped in so we decided to go with a night in the K club for my parents with dinner for them and 3 rounds of golf on the smurfit course as I never played any of the K club courses ;) for 250 so hopefully we get the weather now.

Any feedback on what the smurfit course is like?

    Kev.
