    Hey lads,

Have my car up for sale for about a week and a half on a few different sites.
I won't list it here incase i get into trouble but you know where to find it if you
want to ;) No urgency on a sale really as the car is perfect, economical, running
well, and not due a service for another 7k or so (which will take me about 3 to
4 months). But i do fancy a change to something a bit bigger.

Its a Honda Civic 1.4 SE 2006, relatively new NCT and barely driven with 40K KM
    on the clock.

My question is, is my price ok at €8995? I've dropped the price very significantly
from my purchase price. I've had a look at all the sites i can think of and this
model varies in price from €7200 (one that has been driven into the ground with
120K miles) to about €12000 (dealers chancing their arm).

Just with the mint condition of the car and really low mileage
I expected to be inundated with calls but have only had two so far and no offer
    of a viewing.

I cant really afford to drop the price anymore. I'm being crucified already even
at €8995 considering what i paid for it. Any suggestions on how to sell a really
decent car for what (i think personally) its worth. Any advice very welcome!

i cant fault your photos, car or quality of advert content.

all i can say is that if i was spending 9k, i'd want the security that come with purchasing from a dealership.

have you considered accepting a little less and taking the car to an auction if you want to move it along quickly?

I can understand how a buyer would want a warranty of some sorts but unfortunately
i couldn't personally say i'll guarantee it for a year as i'm not a dealer, its just a private
sale. Also mine is the lowest mileage 2006 model (on any irish site) as far as i've seen
so in my mind lower mileage means that a car has been well looked after and not driven
to such an extent that it would be much less likely that anything major could be wrong
with the car. And id be selling from my front driveway so i'm hardly going to pass on a
    lemon.

I don't really think i'd be interested in Auction. How much would we be talking about
letting it go for at auction? I've been to one of the auctions before and in my mind
they were selling nothing but rubbish and this is about as far as you can get away from
rubbish. Also im guessing at auction that i wouldn't be able to set a reserve on the price,
would i? Also i would really like to know who is buying my car. Everybody knows the
attachment you get when you get a really good reliable car that never lets you down.
I'd like to see who is driving away in her and like to think that they will look after her as
well as i (and the previous owner) did.

I found an irish site like 'webuyanycar.com' which topgear brainwashes us with. But i'm
not sure i'd trust such a service. Has anybody used the service where they inspect the
car and make you an offer? And are the offers off the walls? I'm sure that these sites
are set up to buy a good car from a desperate seller (maybe in financial difficulty)
and sell them on making a sizeable profit using dealers.

The golden rule is - Your car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I have recently sold my pride and joy and I ended up having to let it go for a whole lot less than I wanted. I paid nearly €42k for it in June 2007 and let it go for less than €14k.

Every example on Carzone and to an extent on DoneDeal had similar cars priced north of €16k both privately and from dealers.

The prices advertised on the web at the moment do not reflect the actual prices that cars are selling for.

It is a buyers market out there, I would have stood over my car as being one of the better examples of it's kind up for sale but it still took me the guts of two months to sell it .. all the while it is depreciating.
