    Hi,

Looking to convert avi files downloaded from net into compatible versions for play in iTunes and hopefully apple tv. I think that they need to be converted to mpeg 4. I am trying to use Apple Quicktime pro but without success.

I have opened an avi file, clicked export, chosen export movie to mpeg4 which it does then tried to import it to iTunes which it also does but then when I attempt to play the file all I get is a black screen with no audio and the clock running. Any ideas ?

Download handbrake convert the file to mp4 in about 20 mins then you can stream it back to the atv2.When the file is converted to mp4 just drag it into iTunes movies and it will stream from there plus you cab put the files on to ant idevices from there ",

Sound. That seemed to have done the trick. I now have a former avi file in my iTunes that is running as an mp4. Will go buy apple tv later this evening hopefully. Does the streaming from iTunes on my laptop to the apple tv come out of my monthly download limit ? Just curious cause if so that could be a potential problem.

Yea might be a problem as your both uploading and downloading at once if you don't have unlimited allowance be careful. lads can anyone else answer that question??
