Castlebar was awarded best presented course in Connaught in 2010
after hosting the Connaught & All Ireland finals.Greens are built to
PGA spec & are very fast. Its a members club rather than concentrating
on greenfees/socities who are also made very welcome. If youre going to
live in the town its definitely the club to join.

Played it a few times. Front 9 can be very tight and feels like not enough room but back 9 is more to my liking. Some good holes namely 2,6,9,11,17. i thought some holes on front nine quiet dangerous with to many holes close to each other. Other good courses in area are westport and ballinrobe. Check out their websites

Yeah nice course, played it a good few times and would say it is well worth it. The members seem like good craic down there and the course is good. The greens are the best feature of the course as they are very tricky !

A great day out a few years ago, was sitting out, having a pint, watching a 4ball approach the green (9th?) in front of the clubhouse. The first ball hit the green, rolled off into the reeds inches from the water. second ball out the back into semi rough. Another ball same as the first.
As the group approached, the barman appeared with 4 pints on a tray, and brought them down to the guys on the green!
Altho jealous as hell, we pointed out where the balls were hiding, chuffed to get a nice wave and thanks and carried on.
to cap it all, 2 more pints appeared for us, courtesy of the boss:D
    love the place ever since.:P

I have to agree with this. Both Westport and Ballinrobe are fantastic courses. I especially love the back 9 on Westport. Some of the best views I have ever seen on a golf course

well you should think about joining maybe carne or enniscrone,
both less than 40 mins away. and for a little bit more money youl have golf for 12months.Castlebar does tend to get wet.espeically across the road.
