just looking to take up some watersports, since there is so many lakes around here

hoping to pick something up second hand.

there are just lakes here, coast is bout 2.5 hrs so wont get to go there, maybe only 1 a year.

so its all about the lakes for now.

i want to do some kinda water sports, but dont even know the difference between a canoe and a kayak.

any direction or guidance on this topic would be great.

    thanks

Canoe. Use a single bladed paddle...think canadian canoe (google it)
Kayak. Use a double bladed paddle. Loads of different types. For your purposes would suggest a recreational type....ie long (fast) and wide (stable). Could also consider a 'sit on top' type but these tend to be quiet slow.

If you really know nothing about it, I would strongly suggest doing an introduction kayaking weekend (eg level 1 sea kayaking) to learn strokes, safety etc
