Tax Question

    Quick question...

I'm taxing the gf's car which was off the road for the last 4 months since she was away with work.
I've the form filled in and stamped by the guards.

My question is does it matter what Car Tax Office I go to to tax the car?
The car is a G-Reg and registered to her home address in Galway but we're living and working in Kildare.
Can I go along to the Kildare Tax office and tax the car there or does it have to be Galway?

You can fill in form RF111 which caters for change of address and renewal but you'll need to go back to the Garda Station and get the non-use declaration filled in and stamped, that's also on the form.

You can download the form from the Kildare Co. Co. website here.

If the form you have already stamped by the Gardai doesn't allow for a change of address then what you could do is send that off to the tax office in Galway and when they send the new tax disc to your GF's old address, then you can do the change of address later.

I never mentioned the fact to the guard (would he even know the correct procedure?) when I got the form filled out.
    Only though about it now.

    Car is registerd in Galway.
She's working / living in Kildare (has bills in her name / address to prove)

Will I have to tax it for her in Galway or get away with trying in Naas tomorrow?

    Not Your Ornery Onager

^ It's not about the reg of the car - it's the address of the registered owner that counts.

Guil, I think the car is registered to an address in another county rather than the car has a 'foreign' county reg on the plate.

Far as I know, you need to tax it in the same county.
Perhaps a change of address, ie new kildare address on the back of the reg cert, they'll process the change and tax it for you.
