GBBR DMR Platform?

Considering purchasing a gbbr with the intention of using it in a dmr role. Co2 is a must so from research that looks like a WE is the only route, manufacture wise, i can go at the moment. I'll be getting one with the Npas kit installed or will be getting installed. I was looking at WE's M16A3 but would prefer a rifle with RIS for bi-pod attachment and over-all look. I know you can buy an after-market RIS system but that is quite expensive and would prefer to spend that on extra mags and such. Was looking at WE 4168 with possibly an extended barrel partly covered by a long suppressor. I know hop up rubber upgrade is recommended. Will an aeg rubber suffice? Has anyone else any experience with similiar gbbr's or built a gbbr dmr that could offer any advice?

The WE M14 EBR (conversion?) is the nicest gas DMR platform I have seen, check these out:

Its a beauty alright Decoy, but unless i'm mistaken there isn't any Co2 M14 mags yet. That and the cost of it is pretty big. If money was no object :)

just remember that gas even co2 is not the best platform for a dmr/sniper, the gbb will only add to the inconsistence so there will be a platform to the accuracy you will be able to get

saying that at 1j it will not be that much of an issue and as long as your aware that accuracy will not match an aeg or spring

also the gbb does get the cool factor, as other have said the we m14 might be worth a look

Cheers Puding. I quite like the m14 but like i said i'm sure there isn't Co2 mags yet for it. I could be mistaken. I'd probably like to get one down the line sometime but for my first one i'd love to get an M16 RIS/ SR-25 style look. G&P have a gbb M16 RIS but again no co2 compatibility. I know the consistancy or accuracy wont be as much as a well tuned aeg but that means you have to work harder for your kills along with having low cap mags. Bit different than just spranging 15-20 bb's towards that tree stump :)

G&P have a gbb M16 RIS but again no co2 compatibility.

G&P do have CO2 mags in the works for the WA platform. From pictures I've seen they look to be reasonably advanced, as in pre-production promo shots.

Edit: "Coming soon" (note: G&P are notorious for not updating their website. They still have the Stoner listed as pre-production order ... )

Had read that alright Lemming, but seems to be no definitive answer about when exactly they'll be released :(

I'd recommend steering clear of WE if you're looking for accuracy (which would seem to be the point of a dmr, no?) ... having gone through a few (including those with upgraded hop-ups) they're quite hit and miss - and even with a 'hit' they're never going to be as accurate as an upgraded aeg.

Also - afaik WE gbbrs don't have as many upgrade options (in terms of hops and barrels) compared to the WA/G&P/AGM platform. AGM (clone of WA) are pretty dire out of the box (and hard to get hold of now...) - but with upgrade parts they can be turned into pretty accurate performers. I'd be more inclined to go the WA way if I were you - there are many more upgrades and the system is just more stable in my opinion (and, as I said, I own both WE and WA/AGM type GBBRs - I've had dogs trouble with some WEs and once upgraded no hassle at all from the AGM). The only problem with the WA/AGM type is mags - stock mags are rubbish and require far more babying than WE mags. The prowin WA-type mags are excellent though - but pricey. If I recall they're about twice the price of the WE mags (which are about $40 or there abouts).

So - both systems have advantages and disadvantages...

Interesting read there Merry, thanks. Puts a new perspective on it. My main reason for leaning towards the WE brand was the availability of Co2 compatible mags. What gun would you be inclined to use as a platform, bearing in mind that i dont really want to be completely rebuilding a gun like you have done with your AGM. Also what kind of effective range were you seeing with your gbbr's? Cheers.
