Did anyone else read the Sunday Times about this universal charge for internet/tv/smartphones that is being mooted? Absolute BS if it happens, I don't have a TV for the simple fact that I wouldn't ever watch RTE. I pay for my internet with Eircom and now they want to introduce this? Just tax everything! Thoughts?

Ha, I even thought the television license was absolute BS but this takes it to a whole new level. Pretty soon there will be a portable video game tax, tax the 3DS! I think reading it they were saying regardless of if you have internet or anything you will still have to pay, so basically 100-200 per year just because. Its just a dressed up tax. So infuriating.

I've complained before about the TV license.

Taxes like this, which are not designed to influence behaviour, and which by their nature will affect almost everyone are pretty pointless. General tax revenue should cover this.

    Ix.
