VAT Return - lost receipt

    Hi,

I was about to fill out my VAT return for the last couple of months when I noticed that I have lost a receipt for a printer I bought for work. I have attempted to contact the company I bought it from but as I paid in cash and can't remember the date I bought it, they cannot/will not give me another receipt.

Am I right in saying I shouldn't include this on the return in case I get audited and cannot produce the receipt?

    well the printer exists.

even if you can print off the sale price from the shops website or give you a quote showing how much VAT is charged this will suffice.
