I now have 2 satellites erected, thanks mainly to the very informative thrads / posts in this forum.

I suppose this has made me notice other people's satellite set ups more as I drive past their homes, and I am noticing a lot of dishes have become discoloured or rusty. Is there a way / product to prevent this from happening?

Short of sanding/re-painting the dish, there's not much can be done.
I guess if the dish is easily reached it would do no harm to wash the face of the dish, gently, a couple of times a year. I spray the face and rear of my dish with WD40 after cleaning it, and wipe it down. Takes me ten minutes, but my dish is very easy to reach. Also does help to grease all the fittings at the back of the dish when it is installed, so that the threads don't rust into a solid lump.
The same kind of care you would afford any exposed painted metal I suppose.
A quality dish, as with any product, will probably work out cheaper in the long run and give better performance, most likely.
I hate those Sky Zone 2 perforated dishes, they rust really quickly sometimes.

Wire brush and 2 or 3 coats of smooth Hammerite seems to work well for Sky Dish.
Always finish brushing at front so any drips are collected at back.
