Dimensions for Double Bedroom

We've just got our revised house plans, and there's one thing I'm worried about - the size of two of the double bedrooms.

They are just under 12sqm each, but the width on one is 2.85m (this is the wall where the head of the bed will be positioned)

Am I being ridiculous or is that very tight for a double room - especially considering the house is going to be 3000sq foot?

What dimensions would you suggest for a good size double room (not a master bedroom!)?

Well if you take it that a double bed is 180cm wide (200cm for king-size) that will leave you with ~52cm each side on a 2.85m room which is tight enough but not a deal-breaker.

2.6m is generally the absolute minimum for a bedroom width, but in a large house, you should really be aiming for at least 3m, and I would be aiming for the size of the bedroom to be 20m2.

A double room 3.6x4.0m wouldn't be a bad sized double room, however one has to factor in the position of the bedroom window, door, wardrobe and bed. In a double room I would be allowing 1.8 to 2.4m length for a wardrobe.
