Cotto - Mayorga is a hypejob fight.

    Cotto by rape.

Martinez - Dzinziruk is tonight's real contest

Completley agree but they could pick their nights better.

Cotto and Mayorga doesn't look like it'll last long... the other contest should be an awkward affair

The Cotto fight has been great so far.

I've always been a big fan of Cotto's style... and Mayorga is definitely a character if nothing else!

    Cotto's shot

    Cotto's shot

Great round for Mayorga, Cotto looked rocked.

    Class performance from Martinez.

    Martinez's jab is disgustingly underrated.

    That left hook was crisp.

Great night of boxing... missed the Martinez fight, but the Cotto, Lee, and Foreman fights were deadly

Great fight, You got to love the Cotts, classy guy. I would love it if he batters that Mexican cheat.

    Great night of boxing :D

Mayorga's a ****in nut job. There was nothing wrong with his hand. His pride just couldn't take the knock down and he gave up. A disgrace. Cotto really is a great boxer when things go to plan for him.

Cotto Mayorga was an unexpected cracker. Didn't expect Mayorga to pose that much of a threat. There was feck all wrong with his hand though.

Martinez is just quality. Great fighter to watch.

Mayorga disclocated his thumb ffs, when they took his glove off the doctor popped it back into place.

Don't believe it. What dislocated his thumb? His swing at fresh air or Cotto chinning him. His pride couldn't take it.

Yea in fairness, if you watch it back the doctor definitely did not pop anything back into place.

Yup, he felt it but didn't pop anything, he got dropped and used his hand as an excuse.

Funny thing is this fight would have opened up many more fights for him, it was exciting, a bit mental but he would put asses on seats with the right opponent. Now he's retired.

I'll have to get another look but the way he immediatley grabbbed his thumb for the knockdown meant something was wrong, if your caught with a great lefthook the first thing that comes in your head on your way down isn't "i'll fake this by pretending my thumb is sore to aviod my pride being hurt". I have no doubt that he damaged his hand.

Good fight. Cotto got the tko we all expected but much later than most anticipated. He's a classy boxer but so vulnerable at the same time!

That Majorga fella is some nutter, his antics throughout were hilarious! Even at the end, he was trying to make out there was something wrong with his hand when the only visible contact he made with Cotto was with his jaw! :D

What next for Cotto? Margarito got an awful lot of boos from the crowd when his mug flashed up on the big screen! :D

Cotto should honestly just retire now. There's nobody he can beat out there that's worth beating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Margarito would be worth it for him.

    Margarito would end his career.

I hope he doesn't though. Love watching him box.

I hope he doesn't fight Marg, Cotto is still great to watch and has serious class but I don't think he's mentally right since the loss to Margarito. I think Marg had plaster in the gloves that night and Cotto to me looks mentally scared. You could see it in his face when the going got tough against Mayorga, the look of fear was there at certain points and the fact that it's Marg will just add to that. On paper he wins comfortably but I have serious doubts given the history, I think he shouldn't be expected to give him a rematch given the circumstances.

The Cotto fight was a great one anyway, I don't know where they got the 10/1 from.
Martinez showed the other night too just how good he is, the guy just gets better and better, there's no challenge out there for him except maybe moving up to super middle, 9lbs is alot though so not sure if would be a huge mistake, it would certainly cement his legacy though

You could see he caught the thumb off Cotto's glove before Cotto caught him. He was also holding it on the way down and that'd be the last thing you'd be thinking about on the way to the canvas.
The guy let his hands drop and let Trinidad catch him with 2 hooks straight on the chin, whatever criticism you can aim at the chap I thinks it's a bit much to say he lacks a set

Like him or loath him Mayorga is a complete nutcase! One of the best for building hype for himself and any fight even in the last year between his proposed MMA fight, to taking Don King to Court and then all the usual big man pre fight talk
