All betting aside - Gold Cup

All betting aside I'd love to see Denman win the Gold Cup. He was my first NH in BG & Ire bet in the 2008 GC and he is exactlyy to type off horse I admire. He's tough and game always. Just a little reflection on the 'Iron Horse' who I hadn't the fortune to see live on the flat.

If I was to make a loss betting on the Gold Cup then Denman would make all the more easier.

    * ( f*** off! What time is it!?? )

I love Denman too and would love to see him win but I am a huge fan of the Commander too, I love the attitude and fight that both of them show and they way they just rocket over the fences to put everything else under pressure.

With Kempes in the Gold Cup, it would be interesting to see who rides Denman. I hope Geraghty gets the leg up.

Only at 4am does a man openly declare his love for a horse :) seriously though, id love him to win it again, have my money on him too.

I hope Denman wins. Rather like Weird Al too,but I don't think he's top quality.

Would love it if denman won again, Really fancy him as well and will be having a nibble tomorrow on payday :) E/W shot to nothing IMO

With no financial involvement, I would love Noel Meade to win the big one. Getting into the veteran stage and has been a great trainer for decades. Gets a bit of stick for his festival record but hasnt had much luck at the course. Would love him to win the big one.

I thought it would have been nice to see Nicanor win it if he would have ever got there.

I would love Denman to win it but don't think he will, I can see him placing though.

I would have liked to have had a punt at Diamond Harry, Long Run is probably the only realistic chance now outside the 3 but not sure if he is ready yet tbh, jumping needs to improve imo.

I don't think it will happen (in fact I'm considering laying him for a place) but I'd struggle to keep the tears in if Kauto can somehow do it again

If that Fairytale can't happen I hope Long Run runs to the level of his Kempton form (the game needs superstars), although with his course record & jockey I could never back him at 5/1

Completely agree with the first line.

Im slowly coming round to the view that Long Run may well hack up on Friday.

Tears if Kauto and grumpy win? Why? Have you laid it to your tits?

I think Denman is probably my favourite horse in training, I love the horse and was on the right side when he won the Gold Cup.

It's such a pity he didn't come back the same horse.

It's very hard to see him winning the race this year and in reality Long Run will probably win the race this year.

I'll be back Denman though in the hope that he can pull something from somewhere.

Realistically, would like too see Meade win it with Pandorama, feel he has a great chance, Think it'll between him Imperial commander and long run.

Would prefer Kauto to win ultimately though, but cant see it happening.

    Kauto for me too, it'd be some story;

2007 - Announces himself and justifies favouritism
2008 - Beaten handily by stablemate
2009 - Returns to glory and hacks up
2010 - Nearly kills himself in a fall
    2011 - Bows out with a win

Because tbh, if it came to pass and he did win I'd hope they'd do the decent thing and retire him on a high.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw kauto hunter chasing next year. Seriously.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw kauto hunter chasing next year. Seriously.

Either would I, there has been hints from Ruby and Nicholls before that he could go for the National at some stage. That may change/have changed though but there was definitely word of it happening.

I don't think he'd do as much over further; GC distance is his optimum. Denman on the other hand is made for hunter chases.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,288 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

If we ever see Kauto or Denman in a hunter chase i will give you all one million euros each.

Cheltenham really brings out the crazies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,513 ✭✭✭✭cson

I see you're still as welcoming as ever.

If you'll allow me to clarify I would have been thinking in terms of the two going the National route after where I'd think that Denman would be made for that type of long distance chase but that KS wouldn't be.

Anyway, this is off topic so I'll be leaving it there.

Wasnt talking about you but why would i be welcoming to people who talk uninformed rubbish. There have been several posters here all year capable of decent debate.

I was only echoing what the jockey and trainer had said, I suppose you think you are more informed though by the sounds of it.

    probably my favourite horse

when he won the gc i was on and besides that i always
seemed to back him for a place anytime he was placed
including more recently in the hennessey.
same again thurs i reckon at around 7/4

I think you are lying, id love you to show me where Nicholls and Ruby said Kauto could end up in Hunter Chases.

Actually looking at your above post you probably dont even know what a hunter chase is, it has nothing to do with the Grand National.

What ever about Kauto, Nicholls definitely said Denman could run in the national, he was in the betting for a long time for last years national.

Denman is probably my favourite horse too, I backed him weeks ago on the nose!!

I never mentioned either running or not running in the National.

Where did I say Ruby and Nicholls said Kauto would go Hunter Chasing? I'd love you to show me?

I actually said I wouldn't be surprised if he went chasing, but stated that Ruby and Nicholls had previously said he may go to the National, meaning he may stay National Hunt chasing on that basis.

I never stated that Hunter Chases had anything to do with the Grand National, or are you basing your argument on imaginary facts to put yourself on a pedestal to other posters?

I have no reason to lie, and after that remark I find little reason to converse with you further.

The post above you agreed with and said you wouldnt be surprised if we saw Kauto hunter chasing which the thought of is hilarious.

    Unlucky.

Lets not change our tune here just because it suits you. ;) Your failing to answer the questions I put forward to you.

Your issue was suggesting that I stated Ruby and Nicholls said KS would go Hunter Chasing, and you called me a liar for supposedly stating it. I proved you were actually working off fictitious evidence and I never stated anything of the sort.

You then suggested that I said the Grand National was related/part of Hunter chasing. Again, I proved you were wrong.

Your attempt to belittle my post from imaginary facts you made up failed, unlucky.

I have no interest in conversing with somebody who makes up facts to support their argument, knock yourself out though with your petty responses.

You are talking complete tripe like all your posts here so far.

Let me break it down and give you some cliffnotes

Maniac says he wouldnt be surprised if Kauto went hunter chasing next year.
    You agree.
I claim you are both insane.
You say you are echoing what the trainer and jockey said.
I say you are wrong because they obviously never said either horse would ever be in a hunter chase.
Then you start crying and say im making up stuff.

That clear enough and sum it up for you?
