Tried Skyfire, wasn't impressed and reverted to stock.

    Good tipic op!

So far, I've tried (with their main cons):
opera - you can only zoom fully or not at all
Dolphin - thought it was fugly as fuc#
Firefox - didn't add anything and seemed to eat memory

So found myself coming back to the stock browser everytime.

Never strayed from the Stock browser, does the job for me.:)

Using the latest beta of dolphin myself. It's the most functional browser with all the addons that are available for it, lastpass, xmarks, desktop mode toggle andd best of all adblock. I also have a shortcut to dolphin mini for when I need a fast browser, it's lightning quick, no other is faster.

Opera is nice but no flash is a killer. Stock is to basic, no addons for bookmark integration etc.

I tried Dolphin, Skyfire, Opera and Firefox...

Stock browser does everything I want it to, simple and effective.

Tried Firefox when it first came out. It was buggy and slow so left it for a while. But after a few updates it's what I use by default now.

The way it manages windows is great. Other than that there isn't much difference, I believe you can sync bookmarks but haven't researched it yet.

opera - you can only zoom fully or not at all

Opera mobile (not mini) has very smooth pinch to zoom.

 Just worked for me. Unfortunately, download section at opera.com redirects to the market as well.

edit: Try accessing the market from the desktop - market.android.com

Dolphin mini and mirren browser for me.

    I use xScope.
Tried the stock, opera, firefox and dolphin browsers. Happiest with xScope.

Multi-touch zoom, one finger touch zoom. Handles tabs and bookmarks really really. IT'll let you change what user agent the browser emulates so it won't automaticly redirect you to the mobile version of a site.

    Opera Mini.
I use it to read boards, news etc. It does not have flash but i have a separate You tube app. never used any other browser so can't compare.

    Miren (MIUI) Browser.

Skyfire for me as it plays Flash content and allows me to watch all the football highlights.

I've tried loads and I'm happiest with Xscope. Dolphin was too ugly, Opera was too buggy, Skyfire ate too much of my internal memory and seemed slower.

Xscope is clean (looks like Chrome), fast, minimal and takes very little memory.

Has a nice file access feature too, but I use Astro for that

Use Skyfire, Tried the rest and find Skyfire the best,

Any sign of a Google Chrome Mini?

Since the stock is supplied by google as part of the android package, I'd say that they consider themselves done as far as android browsers go.

I use the stock browser and Dolphin HD, like both of those.

Yep downloaded this last night and I'm liking it. A little slow on my sgs (IMO) but still good stuff.

That Miren is alright. I still always end up going back to stock though

Google chrome mini as you put it is the stock browser to a certain extent. I know that in one of the more recent upgrades, froyo i think, elements of google chrome were put into the stock android browser

Miren for me. Tried Dolphin, Opera and Skyfire but I'm sticking with Miren.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 704 ✭✭✭LukeS_

Yeah has to be Miren for me too. I just like the way it's laid out with all your tabs visible and it just works the best for me.

Seems as though all the people who haven't said Miren, haven't tried it yet and they've only tried Skyfire, Mozilla, Dolphin etc. Try Miren and you'll surely be won over. ;)

im using dolphin and i love it, except for flash not working with it. the standard browser is a pain in the face.

Opera Mobile web browser (not.. Mini). If you own an Android phone without pinch to zoom (Samsung Europa), you can control the amount of zoom in percent for when you tap to zoom in. It isn't stuck at maximum zoom, if you get me. Nice little touch.

Great icon thumbnail bookmark start page too.

i've used Firefox and Opera and on both occasions preferred the stock player. I might try Firefox again at some stage when they get it out of beta and implement some of the cloud features that Firefox4 on PCs promises such as syncing bookmarks etc. The stock browser I find to be very good overall however.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭penev10

    On the X8 I've tried:

Opera Mini - zoom is rubbish
Skyfire - good for videos but slow
Dolphin Mini - nothing over stock really
Dolphin HD - the add-on for "Read it later" is good. Generally quite fast

    Stock browser here.

Tried a few of the others but none of them work as well or with as little hassle as the stock one does.

Opera Mini 6 came out overnight with full pinch and zoom!

Hide everything as well.. great for small screens. One gripe, I'd like the zoom buttons to be offset and not dead center of the bottom of the screen.

EDIT: my post relates to Opera's full mobile browser, not Mini.

    Both browsers have been updated..

Very nice update, pushes it past the stock browser.

Yeah its the same for me the text is very small, it was perfect in the previous versions. One touch zooming is also gone. Prefer it overall though and am glad opening links in a new tab is now done in the background. For me on a htc wildfire opera mini is the fastest by far haven't tried the mini version of dolphin though.

yeah this is very annoying about the way boards looks on the new Opera Mini. This seems to be the only site I use that is affected like this.

Have been using Opera Mini for years and don't really want to have to change

I use Opera Mini usually when I end up on a GPRS signal. It's effective enough when browsing boards.

When I'm hooked up to the wifi I use the stock browser.
