    There is no grip on them so you would need a clipless pedal. Try some mtb shoes instead.

    I have used mtb shoes without cleats but I found them a bit inclined to slip off the pedals. You'd be better off with cleats...

    The whole point of flat pedals is that they can be used with pedestrian shoes.

    If you don't want to use pedestrian shoes then there is no point in using flat pedals.
