i am a resident of Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam and recently was suprised but delighted to see they have put a speed camera sign up about 200 yards before the 50km sign just before you hit the village.

Is there really a camera there though, I cant ee one unless its on top of one of the lamps? Just curious!

I have seen these go up in a number of places. I don't think they are for fixed cameras but for the camera vans which move around, at least both the ones I've seen are in the speeding van locations. I'd be interested to know myself.

saw no van or squad car in the usual places, wonder is it just a scare tactic, as such..

They put those signs on the roads where they are likely to set up speed traps. Vans and garda speed checks. It doesnt mean there will always be one there.

Yeap thats correct. It marks out the zones. Waste of money if you ask me, even in the man power required to put those signs up.

And please don't be the eejit that hits the brakes when they see these signs. You look like a total fool. People need to educate themselves.

Well in the case of our street, I hope everyone starts hitting the brake we live in a mall village on the N63 and people bomb through it. Worse still the village is practically built on a terrapin bend with a chipper shop pub chemist estates ect all on that bend. Its scary just turning into the estate watching cars come round the bend in your rear view and hoping they arent going to rear end ya. Never mind crossing the roads. Its an accident waiting to happen especially with the local pitch there too and the kids that go across to the shop from it.

So yes please do slow down what ever it takes, where needs be!
