cheers for that. I scaned the first few pages and the last few, seems to be about 37 pages, so Ill have a read through it in the morning.
seems to be loads of problems.

whats p!ssing me of is it has worked fine until the update! this might be something to do with it????

its possible I still have the receipt and warranty, but I wonder if these are any use. (if I can Find them)

I updated mine today,an hour later it got the YLOD.60 gig model too.

if your lights are coming on it sounds different.Maybe the update reset your tv output settings to default which would mean you need to use the ****ty lead that came with the ps3 rather then a hdmi lead in order to see the screen on the tv,then you can change the settings back.

Yeah this could be your problem OP if you are still getting blue/green light.
Press the standby button on the PS3 console and hold it down for 5 secs till you here 2 beeps, this will make it detect your hdmi cable and then it should ask you to accept it the new resolution settings

Agreed, if your getting the correct lights showing then this is more than likely a display problem. Reset the display settings. Can you hear the controller clicking noises from the tv during the black screen?

the lights were coming on as normal, but it the controller would not connect to it or turn it on/off.

so when I tried to boot the the machine from the controller, noting happened.
then when I turn it on manually & press the controller to connect - nothing happened.

so I dont think its to do with the resolution settings?

this morning when I got up, I decided to give it another shot, booted up and continued with the firmware update (it seems that yesterday it only downloaded the update and shut down before installation).
gave it a test run and all seems fine now. but I dont trust it.

Are you connecting your PS3 to your TV with a HDMI cable?

If so, when you press the power button on the console, hold it down for about 5-10 seconds until it beeps three times [first once, then a double-beep]. That should start it.

As for your controller, it probably just needs to be re-synced. Connect it to the PS3 with a USB cable and then start it up.

EDIT: Just read the last post, ignore me.
