I have a job right now in IT. It is set to end in the next 6-10 months and so I have started looking for a new job.

I applied for a number of jobs, but two are applicable to this situation.

The first is with companyA. Its a small company with little sturcture, in a bit of chaos and I would be going in as a bit of a jack of all trades to get things in some form of order. I am qualified for this job, its more or less in line with my skillset and I have had an offer from the company.

The 2nd job is with my current company, in a different department. Its still in IT, but in an area i have little experience, but also an area i really want to get into. there are 3 stages of interviews for this role and im passed the 1st stage. Problem is there are people in for this job with real experience in the area.

If i had a choice now i would take the 2nd job as its really interesting, and something i can see myself really enjoying.

Where I am having the problem is turning down a job offer. I was raised with the ideal of a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I worry also that I am turning down a decent job, that although im not totally excited about it, would still provide a salary and keep a roof over my head.

I also worry that I wont get any more offers, or no better jobs will materialize and I will end up with no job when my current job disappears.

What would you guys do in this situation?

(I appreciate that many have no job and the fact that I am complaining about having a job offer may be viewed as me being picky, too fussy or even spoilt, this is not my intent)
