    Hey guys,

Was just wondering if anyone could lend me a hand here..

I rang CarphoneWarehouse UK today in regards to pre-ordering a Motorola Xoom off their website. Now I asked them if for whatever reason I wanted to return it would I be able to, and the sales rep told me there is NO exchange and NO refund on tablets... This sounds a bit fishy to me..

I checked UK Consumer rights page and found this

    "When your order arrives

You have the right to return or cancel your order for any reason. But there are some exceptions.

If you don't like the goods or have changed your mind, you can cancel the order. This is usually within a seven-day 'cooling-off' period. (Please note that the rules for financial services (including consumer credit) may allow a different withdrawal period)."

Now, the problem is, I would order it online, but I'd pick it up in the shop in Newry, does this still count as an online order?

This is what is stated on the CarphoneWarehouse website if you select returning something from an online purchase

"You can return most products within 14 days

You can return or exchange almost anything you buy from us online or over the phone as long as you let us know what you want to do within 14 days of the day we first try to deliver your product.

What can't I return or exchange?

Top-ups, ringtones, downloads, Talk2Text or graphics.
Personal Bluetooth headsets (this is for hygiene reasons).
Car kits once they've been installed - give us a call on 0870 087 6626^ if you want to cancel an installation.
Home broadband once it's been installed - please contact your broadband provider if you want to cancel your contract after installation.
On some phone networks you can return your phone but you can't exchange it. This affects phones on these networks:

    T-Mobile
    3
    Talkmobile
Orange (this only affects Pay monthly Orange handsets that are branded with the Orange logo)
This means that if you want to change your product for something else, you'll need to return it for a full refund and then make a new purchase. You may lose the phone number you were given, you may have to take an extra credit check, and the whole process may take a few days longer than if you were doing a straight exchange.

Can I try out my product first?

Depending on what you bought, there are different rules about how much you can use your product before you decide to take it back. Find out more about what condition your product should be in when you return or exchange it."

Under that heading you can see

    "Tablets

You can turn the tablet on and try it out. But you can't make any calls or send texts or emails, or add anything to its memory (such as saving numbers or taking a photo)
The tablet must be returned in its original condition."

However, when I select the "I bought in store" option, I see this under Tablets

"I bought my tablet on its own (SIM free)

If you change your mind, you can't return or exchange your tablet."

Was just wondering if someone knows what the correct procedure would be.

This would be in the case that the Xoom is not what I'm looking for, as it's a 700 Euro purchase, I want to be somewhat careful about it..

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance.
