What are you theories?

Ok, we just came out of one of the coldest winters in recorded history.
We all remember the ice and snow, but did we all forget that the Volcano in Iceland erupted before winter.

All that ash was floating around up there, blocking sunlight and cooling europe down. The Uk and Ireland being the closest to iceland, we got the worst. Additionally all the dust in the air may have sent the weather system out of whack, resulting in the cold snap.

A theory my brother had concerning the increase is earthquakes over the past century. It involves the melting of the ice caps.
Think of the earth as a balloon, in the past, the ice was locked at the poles, all that ice had a weight to it, pinching the earth slightly (i'm aware that the rotation of the earth does this too) now that the ice is melting and the water is being distributed across the surface of the planet, that pressure on the poles is being released slightly. Meaning the earth is getting taller and slimmer, and the surface is reacting to it via earthquakes.

Got Any theories about how **** is going wrong?

I imagine the weather was much worse during the last Ice age, of which apparently we've had many.The Thames in London has been recorded as being frozen over in relatively modern times.( too lazy to google the year(s) )
Simple theory is that the earth is going through one of it's repetitive cycles which occur over very long periods of time.

The greenhouse effect traps heat in our atmosphere, the air warms up, the water warms up, the ice melts, the currents slow down, **** gets ****ed up...

I say that in relation to climate change - and actually I would have missed it if not for events in tokyo but also this:

Your brother doesn't seemed that informed. I could also come up with a theory about the Greek gods reaping revenge, alternatively I could read up on tectonic plate theory and convection currents to understand why earthquakes occur
