Just logged into the NUIG Registration section of the website and I noticed:

    Fees Due Now (€): -276.00

Does this mean the college owes me money? Or can someone direct me in the right direction as to where i'd go to ask?

    Many thanks

If that was the case, they apparently owe me 1,500, so i don't think it's true, but I really hope it is!

http://www.nuigalway.ie/courses/fees-and-funding/ If you go down, there's a section on refunds, and one of them is grant/scholarship holders.
    Grant/scholarship holders

Grant/scholarship holders may be entitled to a refund of the:
    • initial fee instalment paid to NUI Galway,
    • deposit for your course or
    • non-tuition fees.
The refund will not be made until all registration requirements have been completed and the full fee received by the University from the authority awarding the grant or scholarship.
However, if you paid a deposit for a course at NUI Galway but did not register, you are not entitled to a refund.
Could this explain it? I'm curious too, I checked mine and its -1500, I'd be delighted if that was owed to me, I'm so broke!

mine's -1500 as well, but that has to be a mistake. i never paid the reg fee this year (only the student levy) cos they knew i was on a grant from last year. strange...might be worth going into the fees office to see what it's about. might be a clerical error.

Its strange how the sums are different though. I got my boyfriend to check his too, and his is just 0. It would be a pretty big error to make. Here's hoping its for real, though:rolleyes:!

I hate to say it, but I think you'll be in for a disappointment guys. I wouldn't rely on the figure listed to be immediately current. For example, if you get free fees your fees would show you oweing ~€5000 but at some point a payment of €5000 is made against that. The reverse is also true in that the payment may be made (causing a negative figure) before the money you "owe" is posted against that.

Do let us know how you get on, though, I'd love to be wrong on this :)

are you looking in the Financial Details bit or the Pay Fees? it's the Pay Fees button that says -1500 for me, Financial Details say that 5 grand or so is due...but it is a bit confusing. doubt it's true, and i'd say the college would cop on to the fact that we shouldn't be owed money.

Shortly after Christmas I remember logging into that account to take note of my first year results again. I'm *almost* certain that I checked that pay fees section, ya know, for the lols, and i don't remember there being a figure other than zero there! But I could (and more than likely am) wrong:)!

-1500 for me too. i highly doubt the college owe us anything so i would advise people not to get their hopes up lol. i defo didnt overpay my fees by 1500! its probably just an administration error.
