Now I know they're there to get people to slow down and all but seriously, it kicks the sh1te out of the car when you go over it. Can they not get rid of it and get a real one that doesn't make it feel like your back bumper hasn't been ripped off?

it helps if you go over it slowly;)

Back car park I think. Its one of those small but deadly ones that are on the road outside the library leading down towards the side gate onto Cork Road.

Feckin hate those things. No matter how slow you go over it, it'll still shake the car to bits.

theres some of those small bumps in the industrial estate accross the road and they're nothing compared to the disaster in the college.

it is kind of funny seeing people hop off it though :D

i feel its needed. countless times ive crossed the road there and people dont give a **** and dont slow down. serves them right if they go too fast over it and damage their cars.

But this ramp is at the top of the car park where only a minority of people cross.

Why couldn't they just put a normal speed bump made from tarmac instead of this 'bump'? Seriously, it doesn't matter what speed you do going over it, it still does damage to the car.

If it's one of the ones I'm thinking of, they're designed to allow fire engines and ambulances go over them at speed but still slow down cars.

Maybe having this type is a health & safety requirement as WIT is a public building/area.

That bump is really taking the piss a bit, no matter how slow you go over it it rattles the car.

well this one definately isn't one of those ones, if a fire engine or ambulance went over that thing at speed the wheels would probably come off the thing!

My car is quite low so no matter how slow I go it scrapes the bottom!!! Also I stopped completely before it one day and then couldn't get over it!!! Car kept rolling backwards... took several goes to get over the bump and I had an audience too, morto :o

I didn't hear or see a thread about the 3 massive speed bumps that are about 100 yards away from the one your speaking of??? Those in my opinion are far worse, you can see engine sump marking on the ramp and road after those bumps.

BTW, I agree that it is needed. The speed and carelessness of some drivers I see in the car park is just discracecful. It's a wonder how they were let into a car in the first place. The ramp will put manners on you. :)

Are the 3 you're talking about in the college? I can't picture them but I do know of the three that are in the residential area behind the college. I do a fair amount of muttering and gnashing of teeth about those ramps too!!

Was in the main campus today, and that ramp woke me right up. Especially as I didn't hit it square on i got to feel its effects four times!!

Its a bit of a misnomer calling it a ramp too, more like a bloody step or a low wall!!!!
