    Hi,
I'm a non-EU student studying in Ireland. I'll buy some electrical products (3DS probably;), mobile phones etc) before I go back to my own country. I wanna know if I can get the tax return?

    Thanks in advance
    Sam

I think your referring to reclaiming VAT on your purchases? But as u live and study here i dont think this refers to you as you are regarded as a resident of ireland during your period of study here. I may be wrong but im fairly sure its for temporary visitors ie travellers here on short stays who arrive from outside the EU and can reclaim VAT on purchases they make. Even saying that there may be laibilities in their home countries albeit it may be a lower vat amount

thank you to both of the replies

yes i mean to reclaim the VAT, coz a Chinese friend who is also a resident here successfully got some money back on his trip back to China to spend summer holidays, but i can't find him these days.
i know that some shops offer a VAT refund form, but in some smaller retailers they seems to know nothing about that

if the goods are for export and personal use retain your receipts and there are companies at the airport that deal with. just bring your receipts when leaving
