Kuta is a bit like a tropical Tramore,it's bit brash and is known as Costa del Aussie. The beach is famous for surfing and there's waterpark if that's more your thing.

And of course ,there are Irish pubs!

    Hi there,

Are you off there on your own? I'm thinking of going there by myself on the way to Aus.. been to Thailand's islands before and Kuta seems like the same kind of thing.. with probably more messy Aussies.. I don't care though as I just want to flake on a beach for a week or so and have a few nights out, and would rather go somewhere other than Thai for a change..

Who are you flying with by the way?

It beats Thailand IMO. For night life its more of a bar/club scene in Kuta but if you head off to the Gili islands its more of a beach/island feel. Kutas beach is a bit crowded for me but you can rent a bike if staying in Kuta and spend your days at some of the other nicer beaches around. The beaches in Indonesia are much better, I think the diving is better too and everythings a little bit cheaper.

The club scene in Bali is good but its bit tame compared to Java. Most of the cities there have pretty intense clubs, especially Jakarta. Not a huge amount of tourists there but the locals can definately party.
