I was thinking of spending a forthnight touring in my car the West and North of Ireland stayng in B&Bs on route. I was just lookign for suggestions on counties and sites I should plan on my trip to see and any recommendations for guest houses or B&Bs I should stay one or 2 nights in on my travels. Budget would not be an issue.:D

The A2 Coast Road, from Larne right around the north coast is very cool. Take in Carrick-a-Rede ropebridge, the Giants Causeway and Duncluce Castle while you are at it :)

Gigs '24 - Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez), The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Pixies, Ride, Therapy?, Public Service Broadcasting, IDLES, And So I Watch You From Afar

Gigs '25 - Spiritualized, Orbital, Supergrass, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Vantastival

second that, take in a tour of bushmills distillery while on that route, all those places are within easy reach of each other and only a short drive or bus trip from portrush

you could spend along time on the west coast but if you are incorporating a visit to the north then probably best stick to county sligo and donegal. inishowen in donegal is really lovely

yep beautiful part of the country

also you can't go far wrong by following the N59 from Sligo to Galway all along the coasts of Sligo, Mayo and Galway, but with a few detours off the main road, for example at Westport turn for Louisburg and down towards Delphi before rejoining the N59 at Lenane. Or maybe if Spending two days in Westport take a trip to the lakes via Partry to Tourmakeady (see the waterfall) to Finny/lough na fooey, into clonbur, Cornamona then to Cong (Ashford castle), there are dozens of places to visit in these areas.

Also in Sligo places like the Horseshoe valley are a must, the mullaghmore peninsula , Glencar and much more

Donegal the west coast and the cliffs at Slieve League, which are the second highest in Ireland After Slieve mor in Achill Island which you could also do, but they are not easy to get too. Gweedore, the Glenveagh national park, the inishowen penensula and Glencolmcille are all worth a visit.

of course some of our off-shore islands, the Aran islands been most populated, then the likes of Clare island in mayo and Tory in Donegal

there is a lot to see and do, just depends on what you enjoy

Do you think it will be easy enough finding accomadation in b&bs as I travel along or should I prebook everything in advance. I plan to do the trip in July

there is alot of festivals in the west/north west (every town and village has one it seems) in july/august so you might be unlucky, also if you are visiting westport on the last weekend in july its reek wkend and accommodation is almost impossible to find

The traditional summer holidays in NI are the 'July fortnight' (usually the two weeks either side of the 12th July) so you can expect it to be busier then.
