    Hi all,

Cracked my LCD screen on my 13.3 Dell XPS M1330 .... there's a small crack at the very top of the screen and from that there are two spattery black lines. The display still comes on and looks fine (lights up as usual and everything.) Want to get the crack and splotches fixed.... can anyone suggest me someone? Am in Ennis, so would love someone close but I need something for as cheap as possible and willing to travel. Will be in Dublin next weekend...... should I buy the screen and bring it in for someone to repair it or should I just bring it in to someone and let them do it all? Any help would be appreciated!

Look on adverts ie or ebay ie, to buy 1 or google laptop screens fix ireland.
it needs to be the exact size to fit the screen holder ,use the laptop on a external, vga monitor would be a temporary solution.

well they've had my computer now for a week and they said they'd have to order the LTD screen..... never heard of this type of screen and google'd it and found nothing

looked up my computer and there's lcd screen (which won't fit because of ribbon issues) and lcd with led backlighting.... no talk of LTD

should i get my laptop back and just find somewhere else? anyone else heard of ltd screens?

    A place in Galway

There are 2 screens, the regular LCD and the more expensive one with LED backlighting, which mine is...... no such thing as an LTD as far as I know.

There's no such thing as LTD screens.

However, he probably means the MODEL NUMBER

DELL are notorious for having to use (To make it less complicated) "DELL compatible screens"

They probably just want to make sure they're getting the right screen, so went about sourcing the exact same one.

No harm in being thorough.. (Unless you're the customer and running impatient..) :)

Maybe that's what he meant but when he said that it doesn't take the LCD screen or the LED, it takes the LTD, it makes me worry.

The thing is, they had it for a week and didn't open it to check the screen before ordering the first one. It started at 79 euro, then 115, now they want 164 for the screen because it is LTD..... which there is no such thing. I've talked to a number of laptop specialists and they say that my laptop would only take 1 of 2 different screens, which is the LCD or the LCD with LED backlighting.

Needless to say, I'm getting my money refunded and trying out brokenscreens.ie - the owner of the company I used was very nice and helpful but I need my laptop and don't have time to beat around the bush!

Fair enough. They should have double checked.
Not nice to be left waiting for what is essentially a 10 minute job.
Big thing was all the misquotes, they should have at least, left it at €115 as per their mistakes, and your time wasted..
That's over double the original quote..:confused:

I've fixed a couple of laptop and netbook screens by ordering the replacements from ebay. There's no complexity in replacing them.
