Quick q on the primary mix

I've just mixed it all together in the primary and added the hops and yeast. I was just storing the bucket away for the next week or so and I found about an inch worth of the treacle left in one of the 2 tins. Should I just plonk it in or should I bother? Probably too late is it?

you add the hop either when you boil or after fermentation

treacle is a very strong flavour 100g can add a good background flavour

I would pour some boiling water around the tin to sanitise it and some to water down the wort concentrate left in the tin. Let it cool to about 30C and then add back to the fermenter. It could be worth a few gravity points.

I did that lads. All under control.

I'm making a beer from an IPA kit. Quite a dark looking mixture so far. Should I be adding some light hops? The kit only had a tiny sachet of hops that I lobbed in as per instructions on the kit.

It'll look paler in a smaller vessel, eg a pint glass.

The hops should really only have gone in a week or so before bottling, but don't worry about it. Let it ferment out, bottle it, condition it, try it, then worry about what you should have done once you've tasted the finished product. It might be perfect as-is.
