Repair for NTC or buy?

It will cost potentially 1,000 to fix my 99 to pass the NCT.

I'm trying to decide whether to do this or buy second hand 04/05 in the 5,000 price range.

Would this be a pointless move as a 04/05 could end up costing me a bit year in year out to pass the yearly NCT, just as my 99 will most likely do?

I could always use the scrappage scheme and get a nice brand new saloon for 15,000 but that figure will just wipe out my savings.

I spent €1000 recently on my NCT for my 98 car...I love the car so I was more than happy to pay it though!

I have to say I like the look of my 99.

It seems all affordable 03-06s look like ****e to me.

It'll only cost €50 to find out what needs fixing.

Better to send it in for the NCT and see how much to fix then spend €5k on another car you don't know the history of.
