Does this annoy anyone else, alloys that have a twist spoke pattern say,the will be bending backwards on one side of the car but cutting forwards on the other side.i could never ever have a car with alloys like this.it would actually wreck my head everytime I looked at my car!!

but its the knowing...its the knowing!!
i just think it's like wearing odd shoes!!

and don't get me started on these dopes with "street drift cars" with different alloys completely on the back.

you introduced me to a whole new world of hate.

    that is an OCD nightmare.

i even hate when my car is more dirty on one side than the other ... or just dirty in general.

I'd be more put off by the fact that they are on a Vectra.

The Vectra was just an example but I agree.are they supposed to be Merc AMG Turbine copies or something? anyway...while I'm here. has anyone got any other OCDs about their cars? another one I have is the car stereo volume CANNOT BE ON 13!!! i also prefer to have both sun visors in the same position too.....oh and both front seats.:D:eek:

Yeah, im a car OCD freak

general spotlessness must be obtained at all times. the car is very rarely dirty for more than a day

parked with the wheels straight, in neutral.
all vents facing in the one direction
either both or neither sun visors must be up or down
handbrake must be on 'x' amount of clicks
radio volume must be on even numbers, but multiples of 5 are ok too
get out, blip the alarm, then check the door to make sure its shut...
... then walk back and make sure the light is flashing on the dashboard
discs in the window mustn't be crooked
no smoking, not only in the car, but near the car
paper mats down in the footwells at all times
i like to wipe my wipers myself using the 'one wipe' facility, i never leave them 'on'
never maintain over 3k rpm in any gear
i must be perfectly in the parking space... perfectly
and please don't touch my windows

detailers disease i think they call it.

My God I almost forgot about this one; Do not ever ever touch the Bass-Mids-Treble on the stereo...EVER!
Also people eating in my car.
I don't mind it but Jebus Christ get it your mouth please!!

I feel like Monk at times, especially if i see somebody coming into the car with....SAUSAGE ROLLS or any kind of pastry!!

Jesus H Christ!!! Thats some stereo, I thought 11 was the loudest anything could go! ;)

For OCD freaks, how about the interior door handles of the W114-115 Merc

    Left side :

    Right side:

    :pac:

And to go a step further some cars like the Renault 4 and the Citroen HY van have different wheelbases on the left and right side. Beat that.

not quite as annoying as trying to take your shoes off and 'park' them beside each other nice and symmetrical. or living in a house full of **** who leave ****ing doors half open and wont keep away from your ****ing stuff!

cuts me right up so it does! the door is open or fecking closed! half way is just God damn messy and lazy!

    rant over.

i would have to burn that merc....probably worth thousands but those door handles would hurt my head!

    What about aerodynamics ?

One wheel's spokes are cutting into the air while the other is not.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

One set of wheels would scoop air into the braking system, so under heavy braking one side may fade quicker than the other and you'd end up braking in circles! :D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,432 ✭✭✭Damokc

yep thats true!! seriously though I have read on another car forum before about alloys causing alot of noise from the cutting of the air though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,429 ✭✭✭dnme

What's the story with alloys anyway? Can you buy dedicated left and right rims? If so, is the car in the OP's post just a cheapo allow upgrade where all 4 rims are identical?

Dude, you should be pressing the button in when applying your handbrake, you'll wear out the cog ;)

I agree with most of your other points, except I always park in gear, its a habit I have.

I also will turn the wheels to the curb if parked on a hill, not leave them straight.

in the same way i like to do roundabouts slowly so as i don't wear out the outside of the left hand tyres more than the others.

You should alternate roundabouts - one clockwise, the next anticlockwise - to make sure your suspension and tyres wear evenly.

What's the story with not maintaining 3k RPM+? Whatever about OCD, that's just crazy, how do you expect to have any fun at all?

with regard to the alloys as far as i know no alloy manufacturers make left and right. i have noticed even Porsche alloys(the ones with a twist spoke) are like the vectra in the OP. they cut forward on one side the bend backwards on the other side.if i was going to pay thousands for a super car id like to have symmetrical alloys.

oh i don't mind going over 3k, but i would never stay over 3k.
