    Hi everyone ,

Just a quick question regarding JSA collection at the post office for the upcoming bank holiday . I normally collect my payment on Thursday (P/O will be closed the 17th) and would do so the following Friday but am fortunate enough to have an interview that day (yay!) and have to travel across the country for it... Does anyone know if I can collect JSA on Wednesday the 16th instead ? I already asked at my local post office but the young guy at the counter said he did know

Thanks so much for reading :)

    Hey,

Not sure if every Post Office is the same but i have a friend who collects her JSA on Thursdays and when she asked she was told it would be there the day before which is the 16th.

She is in Limerick. Hope this helps :)

Your money should still be available on Saturday to pick up at post office. Good luck with the interview.

I think it's normally available for a few days so you should be safe on Monday even and the post office would be able to say how long it will be there for collection. As for availability on the 16th I can't say but I imagine you could ask the information desk in the social protection office (if there is one) rather than having to queue.

Payments due to be paid on 17th can be collected on 16th:

It's there for three days. So if you get it on wednesday you can collect it by Saturday morning. It's there, sometimes, on the Monday. But don't risk it.

Anyway, if you collect it on the Thursday you'll get it on the day before. Also, they normally have these things in the post office :P

i thought it gets chucked back at lunchtime on friday no matter the day of the week it goes into the po? although i may be wrong. saturday sounds fairer since the po is open on a sat, and some peoples original payment day isn't til a thursday. but no way would i leave it til mon, would more than likely be chucked back by that stage and then you would have to go to you swo and explain why you didn't collect and it would take a while for the money to be regiven

I got mine Saturday just gone; I normally get it on wednesday.

Basically, the computers shut down at closing time or something (as was explained to me on a day when I just got there at 5:30).

When I missed my payment it was there next week but I wouldn't risk it till Monday.

Just spoke to a fella in our local PO here and mine will definitely be there on Saturday, I normally collect on a Wednesday but can't make it this week so he just gave me the full timeframe it's available for.

Yeah, I was supposed to collect today, gave up twice, fricking queue in Tallaght was way out the door, and given the amount of counters open at any given time in there, I just couldn't stand and shuffle.

Whose bright idea was it to stop paying directly into bank accounts? Was it to try and reduce job cuts in the PO?

It was stopped in order to try and reduce fraud I think.

Yeah, it was so we'd have to be in the country at least 3 times a month to get the money and sign on.
