Very happy with how the last thread is progressing - plenty of variety, nice healthy debate, a little something to talk about while those idiots argue over the CBA. We've already voted on wide receivers (if you haven't voted yet, do so now!) so now it's time for the folks who line up across from them - the corner backs. Same rules apply, a top 10 based on current talent above all other factors if possible. Fire away!

    1. Nnamdi Asomugha (OAK/FA)
    2. Darrelle Revis (NYJ)
    3. Champ Bailey (DEN)
    4. Tramon Williams (GB)
    5. Charles Woodson (GB)
    6. Jonathan Joseph (CIN)
    7. Asante Samuel (PHI)
    8. Cortland Finnegan (TEN)
    9. Brandon Flowers (KC)
    10. Aqib Talib (TB)

That was more difficult than I thought, some players I really wanted to include there but just didn't have the room. Some tough decisions for players who make more big plays versus players who are more likely to shut down one side of the field.

    1. Derrelle Revis
    2. Nnamdi Asomugha
    3. Champ Bailey (still guarenteed a few picks even though teams avoid throwing his way)
    4. Asante Samuel (he's a gambler but his value and ability could be seen in the games that he missed this season)
    5. Tramon Williams
    6. Charles Woodson
    7. Aqib Talib
8.Leon Hall (it was a toss up between him and Jonathon Joesph but I thought that Joesph has missed a few more games so I gave Hall the edge)
    9. Ronde Barber
    10. Jonathon Joesph

Honourable mentions: Brandon Flowers, Cortland Finnegan, Devin McCourty, Joe Haden,

    I'm controversial like that

Revis - 32 total tackles, no int, no sack, no ff - 2010
    54 total tackles , 6 int no sacks, no ff - 2009

You could say that it's because no ball's get thrown anywhere near the receiver he is lined up against but I just don't rate him very highly.

Manning threw to Reggie Wayne once in the entire game against him, teams are terrified of him and Asomugha.Surely that makes them the best CB'S?

I know he gets low stats because QB's don't throw his way, that's why I've said

I, as a professional monday morning quarterback cornerback just think that it is a misguided hype about revis.

To be completely honest with ye though, I did forget about asomuga though :o

What about his Rookie and 2008 season that everyone seems to forget about when they mention his stats. For a rookie they are solid states and for me shows why he is one of the best. So easy to compare this year and last year without breaking it down over his 4 years in the league.

    2007
    Games: 16
    Tackles: 87
    Ast: 13
    Sacks: 1
    PDef: 17
    INT: 3
    TD: 0
    YDS: 20
    FF: 1

    2008
    Games: 16
    Tackles: 45
    Ast: 13
    Sacks: 1
    PDef: 16
    INT: 5
    TD: 1
    YDS: 38
    FF: 1

If you think he is the product of misguided hype you need to re-evaluate your opinion. I do agree he is hyped a lot more than needs be but the fact he strikes fear in Opposing QBs especially in 1v1 situations adds to his abilities.

As for the 2010 season he missed the preseason and 3 games regular season games so you cant fully compare that and 2009. And as much as I hate Revis injuries and contract talk holdouts didn't help him mentally on and off the field. Whether or not he remains as a top 2 contender you can almost guarantee he will be a Top 10 if not a Top 5 CB as long as he is playing in the NFL. In fact if he continues on this path he will make the hall of fame.

To be fair also calling yourself the Monday morning cornerback and forgetting the Top DB in the league is a bit mad just a bit :D

Now I am off to wash my mouth out with soap as the Pats fan in me is angry :D

    1. Nnamdi Asomugha (OAK/Free Agent) - Eliminates whoever he's covering without exception. Ultimate lockdown CB
    2. Darrelle Revis (NYJ)- Slightly overrated but still young and a great shutdown CB
    3. Champ Bailey (DEN)- Was at the Deion Sanders level in his prime, once had a season with more INTs than completions against. Still a very high level CB despite his age, don't be fooled. Made pro bowl at his position last year despite playing on by far the worst defence in the league.
    4. Brandon Flowers (KC) - Most underrated CB in the whole league, absolute stud
    5. Tramon Williams (GB) - Turned into a beast of a corner last season
    6. Asante Samuel (PHI)- Gambler but gets enough INTs to be top class
    7. Charles Woodson (GB)- Tramon has usurped him on the basis of perfomances as the top CB on his team and is a bit long in the tooth to be rated much higher
    8. Devin McCourty (NE)- Bit young to be ranked higher yet, but top player nonetheless
    9. Aqib Talib (TB)- Another under the rader CB who is top class
    10. Quentin Jammer (SD)- Hugely underrated player, constantly plays at a high level and played a big part in how good the Chargers defence was last year

And I'm a Broncos man. But when respect is due, it's due.
