    Hi Guys,

Due to change in work in the next few weeks I'm looking to source a diesel car approx 2litre 01 to 04 for a budget of between 4 & 7 k. I need something big enough to take the 3 kids & accessories on occasion and something reasonably economical & fairly comfortable I will be doing around 25k miles per year.

I have been look at a few in the last week and am looking for some advice on the list below or any reasonable suggestion for an alternative to the following

    Audi A6 / A4
    BMW 520d
    MGZT CDTi
    VW Passat
    Skoda Superb
    Honda Accord

I've come from 12 years driving a range of VAG diesel lumps so know most of the pro's / cons of these. Any advice on the above or other reasonable alternatives would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    MGZT CDTi

Gorgeous and rare, it's nice having a car that is rare, ZTs are a great bus.

I'd choose an Audi A6 and if not that a Skoda Superb.

You will not buy a 520d for €7k. I'd go for the MG too if you can find one.

I'd take the MG as well above the rest but I imagine you will have to go up North to import one.

Thanks guys I have a soft spot for the MGZT but having never driven one or for that matter sat in one I'm a bit apprehensive as to what to expect from one. As I said in my first post all my experience is from the VAG diesel stable.

The ZT are fairly rare in these parts plenty of 75 rover diesels around but the ZT is a rare sight.

There seem to be few on the market in the UK and I wouldn't have any issue with going over to bring one back as I'm over across the water occassionly with work.

What is the general conscenes in relation to which is better the Mark 1 Pre 04 or the Mark 2 facelift model 04-05. Any one have any idea what the VRT on ZT would be as there not on the VRT website. The rover 75 around the same era lists at 850 euro or there abouts. I presume the Zt would be similar.

    €8000
And lads on that forum reckon it's well priced :pac: No mention of mileage either unless I missed it on the skim read.

I reckon that ad will soon be updated with the infamous "relisted due to timewasters" and "no more realistic stupid offers"

If you're in Cork you are more than welcome to have a look at mine, it's not diesel but it's a ZT :)

I think the Mark1s look better, worse case scenario the VRT would be €300 more on a ZT if they valued it at a grand ish more OMSP I would think.

The Octavia/Superb, buckets of them around so a good one won't be too hard to find.

The early accord diesels gave a few problems, most of them were warranty fixes so make sure there done if your looking at them.
