    Hi!

I cycle once/twice a week. Then I also do Ashtanga Yoga, play football & go to the gym, usually once a week for each sport.
I enjoy the variety and I suppose each sport gives you a different type of workout!
My latest thing has been digging a huge border in my garden;great for bulging veins on your arms!

I would be interested to know what other sports you guys and girls do?

    Thank you for reading!

    Arequipa.

Cannot believe I spelt 'Cycling' wrong in my title;....disgraceful!

Do some very occasional road running and a fair bit of hiking when I have the time. Used to do a fair bit of handball too, should get back into it. I've also recently taken up mountain biking if that counts as a seperate sport from road cycling.

    Surfing
    MTBing
    Running
    Gymming

I'm a full back for a team in soccer, I've also recently taken up the place of reserve keeper (I'm 165 short tall), sometimes winger depends what kind of mood the manager is in, could even be thrown as an outside forward in a 3-4-3 formation, I use both feet just to make me even more versitile. I play golf also when the days get longer and I've more time for doing all three.

Rugby and swimming - though not at the same time.

Snowboarding - when I can afford to go find some snow

Cycling and ... Track racing, MTB, DH when I am in the alpes :P

I love athletics, snooker and Rugby on TV :)
Can't stand Football ... that's a family thing. My dad always told me it was gay ( he's a motorbike racer, competed for many years )

I used to be quite keen on Motocross when I was younger. Growing up I practised ballet ( I was 5 ... ), figure skating and gymnastics for a few years.

You are a sporty bunch! I like the variety;yoga on Monday, cycle Tuesday, Football Wednesday & gym /cycle on Saturday.

After football I appreciate cycling;working different muscles without tackles flying in at you from all sides! If I cycled evry single day I'd probably get a bit bored of it!
I find it great for cardio fitness & great way of clearing the mind after a tough day at work!

Used to do a bit of Target Shooting.

A change in the licensing laws last year meant had to get rid of my pistol before I got a chance to compete in any comps:(

Would like to get back into it again some day if they ever change the laws!

I used to play rugby and loved it. However I really detest the direction the sport has taken. You couldn't pay me to watch rugby now.
I watched a documentary on TG4 recently about rugby back in the day. The chaos, mud and incessant rucking. Christ I cried it was so beautiful.

Did a fair bit of white water rafting a few years back. Was good at it and loved it. Would love to go back to it and kayaking. Have always wanted to do the Liffey Descent.

Tried surfing. Loved it but was ****e at it.

Having done some abseiling I would like to try mountaineering.
    I like being outdoors.
Did a bike race last week. I hated myself whilst doing it but loved the feeling after. Would like to try it again.

    Lots of badminton!

Used to sail (but takes too long and very weather-dependent!), try to snowboard whenever I can get away, the odd bit of soccer and I ran for a couple of years before discovering cycling! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 124 ✭✭redzone

Whitewater kayaking when its raining and the rivers rise, road bike most other times as time can be tight, mtb sometimes and ski for a week once a year, have tried others but didn't stick have enough to keep me busy now. The combo of kayaking and cycling gives a great all over body workout.

rugby, played front row for 17 tears till separated my ac joint, then went travelling after the surgery and lost 20 kg so am too light for front row, too small for second or back row @ 5'9" and too slow for backs. also did loads of windsurfing and sailing - love to get back into windsurfing . snowboard when I can, play tag rugby in summer. bit of hillwalking. that's about it.

Running is my main event to keep training for I do cycle on the off days if I can, they work pretty good together,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 541 ✭✭✭another world

Running and Rock Climbing are my two main sports. Cycling has been a recent addition which is quickly becoming one of my main ones. I can´t afford (time and money wise) to get into any other sports now!

Riding Horses . Was my job and my sport .
Love running but body could not take a wish to run a 2nd marathon 25 years on. To many falls have left knees, Hips and shoulder unable to take it. So took up cycling
    Hillwalking.
Like to get the Sking week in each year( Not good though except I know how to falls safely;))

Hiking, rock climbing and sea swimming.
It's a great feeling jumping into the sea after a long cycle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 995 ✭✭✭Ryder

Rowing for years then sculling. Also some sea-kayaking but no space at present for it so sold my boat.....looking forward to taking it up again in a few years when Im settled. A little windsurfing. Loved it but the whole waiting for the wind thing killed me, so gave it up.

Always did some cycling, but its been my main obscesssion for the last 4 years. Run once or twice a week and do 1 day of conditioning (gym type stuff) also

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,830 ✭✭✭doozerie

I've been doing martial arts for nearly as long as I've had an interest in cycling. It's tough to find the time for more than one time-consuming activity though so I've tended to alternate between the two over the years - at times cycling itself has been the "other sport", but for a while now it has the other way around again.

Most recently I've taken up toddler herding. With quite a few years of my other two hobbies behind me I thought I'd be well equipped to take on a single 2-foot-ish high, but determined, toddler and win. Clearly not though, as she consistently kicks my arse.

Between the ages of 16 to 29 pretty much the only "sport" i played was golf, got down to a handicap of 9 and completely lost interest in it.

Was out of work for a few months in 2009, took up jogging and entered a few 10k races. in training to do a marathon later in the year.

Only took up cycling last year. Go to the gym & pool at least three times a week and recently joined triathlon club.

+ surfing, 2 years on, still crap at it, but addicted.

I was a full-time kayaker up to my mid-twenties, training included lots of weights, running and of course waterwork.

Decided to do the marthon last year and got addicted to running.

Entered an adventure race to be held in April, bought a bike in January to train on and i'm hooked big time.

    Love the cycling!!

+ 1 on the surfing; I got a board & wetsuit 2 years ago- have surfed in Achill, Lahinch & Bundoran & once in France; where the waves nearly killed me!

The last 2 years I have taken up Astanga yoga which I always feel great after.
Think when you hit your thirties, increasing age, work & family commitments, it is difficult to fit everything in. Also it gets harder to rope mates into say surfing/cycling weekends when wives & kids r involved!!
