    Hi everyone,
just looking for a bit of help with finding the right way of painting a pickguard. It's for an Ibanez and I don't fancy shelling out on a new pickguard so just want to paint the current one black, from white.
Any advice on technique/what paint to use? New to all of this stuff!
    Help appreciated!

seeing as no-one else wants to help.....

    you will need:
a few sheets of fine sandpaper, A primer, a colour, a lacquer.
either use all acrylic or all car paint.. just make sure they are compattible and do this by testing each paint with a dry coat of the other ones!

anyway, sand the pickguard with a fine paper and make sure it's just kinda matte. then prime (thin coats), then colour (thin coats), then laquer, (guess!).

give it plenty of time to dry and don't rush it... you aren't necessarily going for coverage on every coat.....

this will cost you a few quid... at least 20, and it WILL wear off...

Your best option is to buy a pickguard blank and cut and file to size! much easier to get a good result too!

with the cost of paints and laquers etc... you might just be better off buying one on ebay

Paint's not really made to be belted with a plectrum over and over again, even tough 2k paint. Best to buy a plastic which has been dyed to to colour.
