Is there any way around this? I don't want my daughter to be able to buy what she likes with her new Ipod, because my credit card is linked to it, and it seems we cant get the free stuff without signing in, and I cant set up a new account without giving credit card details WTF:mad:

Anyone got ideas on what I could do? (not looking for music, just a few games as we have imported our own CD's onto it for the moment).....

You can set it up so that a password is required before she can download anything. Otherwise get a 3v prepaid credit card and link that to the account.

Try to buy a free app and when prompted, set up an account. When asked for credit card type, choose none. This option is unavailable when you try to set up an account any other way, you must try and buy a free app for the option to be there. If you cannot see the none option, enter your credit card details. Once the account is set up, go into payment options and delete the card details. Also note that when you set up an account with a credit card, iTunes will charge 1.98 to your card as an authorisation, this will be refunded within a few days. If your daughter wants any paid apps, you can apply an iTunes voucher to the account.

I presume these vouchers are purchased on the itunes website, using the credit card facility??

Not sure if they can be bought on the apple site, but you can pick them up in tesco, hmv, superquinn. They come in €15, 25 or 50. Once you have the account set up, go into the app store or iTunes on the iPod and scroll to the very bottom and press redeem, then enter the voucher number. The account will then be in credit and because there is no credit cards associated, she will only be able to spend the value of the voucher and no more.

Edit: they can be bought online too http://store.apple.com/ie/product/MA201?mco=MTM4MDMwODY

You are doing something wrong. It is there. Ensure you attempt to purchase a free app before continuing. ;)

Create an account without a credit card.

I set up the account with the card, then went onto ipod, into itunes to buy free app and option was then there to opt NONE in payment options.
