Door opening signal

I have replaced the old non-working alarm/remote central locking unit in my 1995 BMW 520i auto. Did not connect the alarm side of things, just want remote central locking. All working except that the alarm unit has auto relocking, if a door is not opened 30 seconds of dis-arming, the unit relocks. I'd like to keep this feature.

Does anyone know the location/colour of the door opening signal wire for the above mentioned car?

I have 2 cables, a positive door open and a negative door open from the alarm unit but much internet searching has not yielded the location of required cable.

If you search some of the online file hosting services like rapidshare, or filehosting.com, you can be very lucky and turn up WDS software (Wiring diagram system) for various BMWs and MINIs. It gives very comprehensive breakdowns of what the various wires do, and what signals to expect.

But a good chat with your local BMW mechanic at a Dealership would be no harm. As it's not an ultra modern car, most would be happy to help you out, and even print out/photocopy the WDS pages for the locking system.

Don't trust the Haynes manual anyway, I was fault finding a 05 Cooper S bootlock recently, and the wiring diagram had plenty of small mistakes.
