which TV

    i was in looking at tv's in my local tesco today and wondering which TV you guys would recommend


    LG 37LD450 37" Full HD LCD TV for 430 euro
    LG 42LD450 42" Full HD LCD TV for 499

    there were also 2 40" sonys for 500
    i think one was a kdl-40s5500
    i cant remember the seriel for the other one

    Be warned that some of those sets form Tesco will be useless once the analogue signal is switched off as you won't be able to recieve Irish digital television unless it has the spec for it - you're looking for Mpeg 4 I believe, details in the Terrestrial forum.

    That aside you should probably asky yourself what it is you're going to use it for - watching movies, standard TV watching shows or gaming or all 3 - and how close you are going to sit to it. If the HD element is important to you the closer you're sitting to the set the more detail you would probably notice.

    it says here it will work with irish didgital anyway, it will be used for watching tv and movies, its only 50hz but it wont be used for gaming so would that matter

    just checked the sonys in tesco again and they are both 40" and 500 euro
    40s5500
    40s5650
    the s5650 seems to have a better picture so i think its a toss up between thatand the lg now, so can anybody help me decide which is best fo sky and blue rays

    i think i will go with the lg as the sonys response time is 8ms and the lg is 2-4ms so it would be better for watching sports
