I joined the Students Union Jobs List in 1999, i graduated from TCD in 2003. I've kept my TCD address and have remained on the list. I received this email earlier this week:

    Good Morning All,
I have an awful lot of names on the Students Union Jobs list and I want to do a spring clean and get rid of those names that have been hanging around the list for God knows how many years.

So I am going to start a new list and if you want to want to remain on the S.U. jobs list, reply to this email by typing CONTINUE ON LIST in the subject box. If I don’t hear from you I will assume you are long gone from Trinity and that won’t be needing this service.

Remember if you know of any other TCD student who wants to be added to the list please get them to get in touch with me.

    Regards, Suzanne

Crazy to think it's been neary 8 years since my final TCD exam!!!!

Are there any other graduates still on this list?

Email SUJOBS@tcd.ie saying you want to be included on the list. You'll soon start to receive emails!

I never got that email off Suzanne.

Was wondering why I wasn't getting any job emails.

If you're in 3rd or 4th Year you should be getting mails from the Careers advisory service already

In 2nd year. Yeah, I get the Careers Advisory service emails. I'm looking for part time jobs though.

Ah, maybe it's just the Vacworks ones which only 3rd and 4th years get, which has summer internships in it

Who is funding these jobs? What benefit do they provide to the university? Are the entirely reliant upon 'who you know' in the higher echelons of the Students Union? What purpose do they serve? Am I indirectly paying for them?

Denny ma' boy, despite my deep set desire to do something else below all your questions are answered.

The employer. They provide part time work to students. They are reliant on the employers requirements. They provide part time work to students and a service to the relevant employers. No.

Delightful assumptions - the jobs advertised are almost never within either Trinity or the SU, it's usually some telesales job or something about working with tourists or European students learning English for the summer. When the Aviva stadium opened there were about ten e-mails about their recruitment. I got a job out of it for a while. Fairly handy.
