Update 3.6

Adds a timer to shut down idle controllers and a remote server save feature. Anyone know if anything else was hidden in with this? Also, whats the deal with cloud-saving? Is it like a backup for saves incase the console/hard-drive dies?

Cloud saving is pointless imo. It means you can use your save on any PS3 you log onto.
It can also be used as you say, to back up your saves.
Most games can be saved to a USB memory device anyway.

So tranferring saves means you'll obviously need the game imstalled on two ps3's? As was mentioned, USB saving makes a lot more sense...especially given the size of PS3 hdd's. If your out of pocket for 150MB for save-games, you need a bigger hddd - simple as.

The cloud-saving is only for plus members. Surely there are better features they could add if they wanted more people to pay for plus. Like ye said, its kinda pointless when everyone can just back up to a usb stick.

You can't copy copy-prohibited save on to any external HDD, you need to do a full back up and i think it needs to be copied back to the same ps3 and not a new one.

That option with copy protected save is changed now, Copy-prohibited save data can be backed-up, with previously backed-up data being restorable once every 24 hours. the developers can't choose to have it opt out now.

People reporting that 3.60 has "re-secured" the PS3.

I've noticed one thing it's done. It's fu<ked up the friends list. It's not in alphabetical order anymore, the names that start with small letters are put underneath the ones with the capital letters. Hard to explain but you'll see it when you log in.

In fairness, 3.56 resecured the console. 3.60 just implemented a whole new system (the metldr key amongst most others are all redundant, there's a new LV0.2 who's in charge which controls everything).
