Been a while since little hitler and catholic devotee Dermot Aherne of Fianna Failure got behind the passing of the blasphemy law, so it's now a part of our legal system.

So where exactly do Fine Gael and Labour stand on this silly, medieval and dictatorial law.

I don't exactly see the problem with leaving it in this forum, can you explain to me what the problem is exactly? I'm aware of those forums, but decided not to leave my thread there - do you have a problem with this?

    From the programme for Government:

    Broader constitutional review

We will establish a Constitutional Convention to consider comprehensive constitutional
reform, with a brief to consider, as a whole or in sub-groups, and report within 12 months on
    the following:

Review of our Dáil electoral system.
    • Reducing the presidential term to 5 years and aligning it with the local and European
    elections
    • Provision for same-sex marriage.
    • Amending the clause on women in the home and encourage greater participation of
women in public life by blasting them with piss.
    Removing blasphemy from the Constitution
    • Possible reduction of the voting age.
    • Other relevant constitutional amendments that may be recommended by the
    Convention.

Naaaaah. Winding up religious atheist serious posters is too fun, and Ah is the pace to do it. :)

Serious Lee though, your answer's in the posts above. I hear it'll have to be a cnstitutional thing which means a referendum. Surprisingly enought I'm up for supporting the "wtf? blasphemy? can we change that?" crowd and I'll vote to change if I can.

On a side note and seen as it relates to the blasphemy law - where exactly does the law stand on the selling of books by authors such as Richard Dawkins. Are we still allowed to read books that might be deemed bold and inappropriate by Dermot Ahern and the Catholic Church?

    That's €75,000.

With this level of blasphemy, your mortgage will soon be becoming collateral.:D

I couldnt beleive that this law was being pushed through. Its absolutly ridiculous. Some native american tribes consider bigfoot a god so by the laws logic the belief in bigfoot is protected!
