Ladies touring bike

    Ok,my significant other wants to up grade,she currently has a real old steel framed dawes hybrid which I picked up at the auction years ago for 35squid.it has served her well in france,Italy and some light touring in Ireland.but she is going to see if it's not too late for the bike to work scheme.if it isn't to late she wants good alrounder. I've up to my eyes lately so haven't had a chance to look at bikes. But I was wonder if anyone here has been?
    She wants something not too heavy,flat handle bars,no cross bar and spend 5 to 8 hundred. She'll be using it for day to day cycling but also light touring, we plan to do a bit in ulster during the summer(if we get one),
