Well, my boss looks at porn at work everyday. I know because i've seen it on his computer when he forgets to delete it, and most of the time his history is deleted. It's pretty hard core the porn he looks at. Others in the job have seen it too.

I have noticed that hes started looking at it in the evening after work AT MY COMPUTER. He "forgot" to delete it once and my history has been cleared.

It creeps me out, why is he using my computer? Im 26 he's early 30's just to give you a rough idea.

Possibly to avoid detection by your IT department if there is one? Perhaps he hopes that if the IT department catch on that somebody is using their computers for porn he'll blame you?

Of course I'm probably wrong about that. Any IT department worth their salt would have blocked access to such sites.

If your PC does not require a log-in, then you could block the internet programme from accessing such sites by applying a filter with a password. As far as I know IE has this facility, not sure about other browsers.

    Be at peace,

    Z

I'm guessing it's a small company. If you have an IT dept can you talk to someone there about blocking porn sites from your PC? You can just say that you came into work and there was porn on your PC and that your history was deleted but not mention who was looking at it.
Just because the history was deleted doesn't mean that it can't be tracked back to your IP address on your PC which you need to be very careful of. You may get into trouble at work with this on your PC or worse still with the gardaí if he's looking at illegal stuff.

Agreed. If there is IT in your workplace, get onto them about this. The danger is that you could be blamed for viewing the porn and get into serious trouble for it. You could also set up your computer so that you'd have to have a password in order to log in. It's good practice in any workplace so there wouldn't be anything particularly odd about it.

My bosses told me this when I asked about the password hint on their XP machines: "Jeff stay off our computers"

Apparently they had an old IT guy that would come in with his key after hours and use the PCs for pornography and forget to cover his tracks, so they changed the passwords to get into the PCs, imposed the Password Hint, and then Jeff could only use the PCs when a supervisor was there to watch him.

Basically: Change and/or impose a new password on your machine. Lock it when you leave.

Just thought I might also suggest that everyone in the office might make a collective decision to password protect their computers at the same time? I don't know what sort of system you have where you work but in my office, we all have our own profiles. It won't stop your boss from using your computer but if he does have a need to use it for work purposes, he can use his own login. Assuming you're using Windows, it can be done easily from the Control Panel.

    OP here,

    thanks for posts.

Its a smallish office od about 15 people. He is the boss and responsible for the computers! We have no IT dept. We cannot password protect our computers, the particular system we use means we all have the same password so thatw e can hop from one computer to the next.

I cant stop him, they are in effect "his" computers. My concern is more, why is he using MY computer and not anybody elses?

How do you know he's not using anybody elses? It might just be case that he had something running on his machine [or was downloading porn already on it] and was using yours cus it was there.

Why don't you approach your boss quite innocently and complain that someone has been looking at porn sites on your PC - pretend you dont know it was him. It might at least stop him from using your PC for his porn sessions in future...

Well you have a few options: Lysol disinfectant wipes, a logitech K-series board and mouse (very portable), or you can confront and berate him for very unprofessional and disgusting behavior. You can of course also start looking for other employment. I'd be in favor of the latter 2 options - and the wipes.

    Hmmm,
So its a smallish office and he is the boss. Is he the owner of the business too? ... Sadly in these situations involving work you dont want to rock the boat. As said above:

Best possible action you can start with. If he has any small bit of shame or embrassment he will stop doing it on your pc. If he doesnt, well thats another story and thats another action. So Cunning Stunt is right to do this first.

Not a bad idea actually. He's obviously not very bright (and is unaware that some browsers have a useful incognito option :D) if others in the office are also aware of his porn habits.

Please don't ban me, mods, because I'm being serious... It's because he fancies you and wants to sit in your chair while he ****. Why else would he do it? It's a fetish thing.

    OP here again,

Forest Master-That's actually what i thought too, i just wanted to see did anybody else come up with it. He has made a few remarks in the past, and has rang and texted me while drunk on a couple of occassions. He also made it his business to indirectly tell me he used my computer that evening, that's why I checked my internet history.

And then there was the box of tissues...Grosse.

In which case that probably amounts to sexual harassment.

Just a tip OP; men very rarely watch porn alone without masturbating. I don't think there is much doubt about this. I agree, its an indirect form of sexual harrasment. Be on the lookout.

Employers have a duty of care to protect employees from images/emails which they may find offensive, you could bring it up under that guise also.

Wouldnt make much difference to "jeff the IT guy". If he is in the IT department he can log on to any company computer he likes with an "administrator" password and browse any sites he likes. He could also wipe any evidence of the sites he visited on the local computer he was on and on the ip router to the outside world based as he more than likely had access to that also.
