Halfords - AXA discount?

I used to be able to use a 15% discount coupon from an Axa insurance policy in Halfords, just printed out the coupon and handed in in while paying. Last weekend while doing the same they said that I now needed to fill out a form with my name, policy number etc. When did this change? I probably haven't bought anything there for 6 months so it could have changed a while back. Any reason for the change?
