3 years and no contract?

09-03-2011 08:28PM#1I've been working for the same company for 3 years now and have no contract.
I know i obviously have rights etc as a paid employee for that period of time.
Can there be any benefits to not having a contract? I obviously cant be told to do something as it's in my contract etc
but aside from that.
Also what would be the major down falls?0
