The only unlocks available for iPhones are software unlocks. This means that you will pay someone to unlock your phone now, but the next time you update the phone through iTunes it will become locked again and you'll have to pay for the unlock...again.

Best thing would be to contact the UK network provider who sold you the phone and explain that you've moved abroad and will they please request an authorised unlock for you.

If you are in Dublin basically anywhere in Moore Street.. Though I have heard some nightmare stories and it voids the apple warantee so you wanna be careful... have you tired calling apple, or the uk provider? Iphones are unlocked centrally by apple and that unlock pushed down to your phone when you synch with itunes by the IMEI number. So maybe if you explain it to them they can help you out?

    hey,
bought an iphone 4 myself locked to 3 in the hope that i could get it unlocked. it depends what softwares its running on the latest one cant be done yet from what i gathered, i went into every shop in town but they all said the same it cant be done. met a guy in the ifsc found him on adverts said he cuold jailbreak it but kinda made a balls of it to be honest. so the heel of the hunt is it can if its on old software!

If your iPhone 4 is on the 3.10.01 baseband, there's no unlock available for it yet. I have an iPhone 4 locked to the 3 Ireland network, and frankly, 3 is terrible, but I can't swap providers because there's no method of unlocking the phone :(
