Enda Kenny has announced his new cabinet in the Dáil. (Mayo)

Eamon Gilmore - Tánaiste & Foreign Affairs and Trade (Dun Laoghaire)

Michael Noonan - Finance (Limerick East)

Ruairi Quinn - Education and Skills (Dublin South East)

Richard Bruton - Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation (Dublin North Central)

Frances Fitzgerald - Children (Dublin Mid West)

James Reilly - Health (Dublin North)

Phil Hogan - Environment, Community and Local Government (Carlow Kilkenny)

Leo Varadkar - Transport, Tourism and Sport (Dublin West)

Jimmy Deenihan - Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs (Kerry North West/Limerick)

Paul Kehoe - Chief Whip (Wexford)

Alan Shatter - Justice, Equality and Defence (Dublin South)

Simon Coveney - Agriculture, Marine and Food (Cork South Central)

Joan Burton - Social Protection (Dublin West)

Pat Rabbitte - Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (Dublin South West)

Brendan Howlin - Public Expenditure and Reform (Wexford)

Any thoughts on this? Doesn't seem too bad to me. Although I expected Rabbitte to get Justice and Shatter to get Children.

Sounds like a good mix of experienced and newcomers to the Dail, Only time will tell. Hopefully Noonan will do a better job with finance than Lenihan.

Have they expanded on what each of the departments will cover exactly?

I'd love to know how much power/responsibility Frances Fitzgerald has now. Off the bat it seems like a good idea to have a minister for children.

Anyone else find it a little odd both the women got the very stereotypical posts? Children and social protection. I don't know enough about either's background to judge good call/ball call.

Not to my knowledge, that will probably come later.

You can bet on the Childrens Rights referendum for a start.

I don't find that stereotypical at all.
Or at least not Social protection. What's stereotypically female about the Dole?

Its what they give the guy who isn't a minister but would feel embarrassed and let down to be a junior. helps him feel more super about not getting the nod. He gets to sit at the big boys table but cant put his hand up to vote. He doesn't mind this though because at least he's not sitting at the little boys table.
