I recently bought a 2009 Subaru Impreza diesel. It has four Yokohama Advan A10 205/50 17" tyres fitted. They have 30,000 km on them. When I replace them I want to get the most suitable tyres available (in Dublin area if possible).

What advice can you give me please?

by most suitable, you mean the exact same again?

will you be replacing all 4?

    do you drive hard?

I don't mean the same again because I have read on a tyre site that they are not recommended.

I am not a hard driver but when I'm going onto a motorway I like to accelerate up to the maximum speed limit as quickly as I can.

so you're not doing 4 wheel drifts coming out of roundabouts!

    Do you have a budget?

I don't know what the price range is but I want the maximum grip in Irish conditions for safety reasons. I am not intending to do a lot of driving through the Wicklow mountains in winter.

I am willing to pay for a set of good tyres that will keep me and the OH on the road and out of the ditches.

to be fair, the Impreza will be grippy even with average tyres on it.

I'd go for vredestein ultrac sessantas

    That or GoodYear Eagle F1

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Are these tyres readily available in the Dublin area?

Falken FK452's - seem to get great reviews by posters on the motoring forums i frequent.

No personal experience of them tho.

Order them from camskill.co.uk. their service is brilliant.
Add on another €40-50 for fitting and balancing. Some tyre places will refuse, some won't..

I have Bridgestone Potenzas on the Legacy...no problems so far.
I'm up at 35k km and they look to have a bit more on them. Surprised the lighter Impreza is needing a change now

I had Potenzas on my Legacy and found them susceptible to pothole damage. Goodyear F1s now seem tougher (could be just luck). The F1s were ****e in the snow/ice though - thread just turned into a slick.

The OPs requirements don't seem too hardcore mind....accelerating on a motorway and keeping out of ditches. He's right not to skimp on tyres though.

the potenzas werent up to much either in the snow/ice

I'm going to be looking at buying the tyres now so it doesn't hit the pocket hard when I need them...did you get yours from camskill?

Which F1's did you get? Assymetric or the GSD3?

I'm starting to look at the FK452's again. Price wise they are far more competitive than the Potenzas/F1's. £33 cheaper per corner than the Potenzas. I could have the 4 corners fitted out for about €400

Where in Dublin would I find a willing fitter? I have only ever had tyres fitted where I bought them.
