What keyboard do you guys use and which ones do you think are best? Right now I'm using the gingerbread keyboard, i like it over stock but for me its not perfect. I used Swype, liked it at first but soon went back to a normal typing one. Also tried Swift but didn't quite see what the fuss was about.

Maybe I just did not give enough time to get to know them, but what do you guys think is the best keyboard to use?

    Couldn't do without Swype

SlideIT for me. Even if you don't like the swipe action it is far better than the stock keyboard for just typing on I think.

Then again it's all down to personal preference.

im using swiftkey but i find it very buggy on my DHD. it was better on my Hero! god i miss the scroll ball though. sometimes ive to revert to the stock HTC keyboard (with the arrows underneath) to move inbetween letters/words.

ive downloaded 8pen and will try it out as soon as i have time on my hands. its an interesting concept.

SwiftKey for me. The predictive words on it are scarily accurate once you get it to analyse your sent SMS messages to learn your language.

    +1 Swiftkey -
Its hard to beat it and it now takes a fraction of the time to write a sentence with it. it throws some wobbles at times and gives a bit of a freeze but I find my Desire needs a reboot every once and a while (once every couple of weeks maybe) and that clears up anything with Swiftkey too - not sure what it is thats happening but its no big deal to do.

I have tried lots of keyboards and find Swiftkey to have the best prediction, best layout, best key spacing and overall seems to fit my needs best

Another good one is ThickButtons - makes the next likely button you will press large and its prediction is pretty good too

@gollywog - try going to language Modules -> My Language -> Clear My Language Data and then get it to learn from your SMS again or delete your language data file (dyn.lm4 Ithink its called) and then get SwiftKey to relearn from your SMS.

I'm currently using the gingerbread keyboard that came with Darkys mod for SGS. There are few options with it though, so cant delete custom words but it does look like it scans contacts names and stuff.

Gingerboard keyboard on my desire is lovely. A nice, quick, accurate keyboard. The suggested words line above the keyboard is great, and I love that punctuation pops up in that box at each spacebar input. I generally get better results with this than on my iPhone keyboard, which is probably the benchmark for touch-screen keyboards.

I have been using swype lately, but keep going back to gingerbread. I find myself spelling out each work in my head to make it work properly. Feels less intuitive and I really have to concentrate to make good progress.

    Swiftkey, brilliant, so quick!

Using Gingerbread but having to delete unwanted full stops constantly, maybe I'm just a bit clumsy with it but I tend to type one handed and in portrait layout so swype got a bit annoying after a while.

Use swype. Tried 8pen for about half an hour and decided the learning curve was too big and swype was still faster.

I use a mix.. I use the stock keyboard for certain things like Twicca and I bought swiftkey which works well on other applications :) I alternate between the two.

I find the stock one a bit slow entering data (probably a Galaxy S issue :()

Make sure your language settings are correct in the voice input -output settings on the phone and then it's great. I have English generic as my setting and it even recognises Irish names and my local accent!!
I use it a bit but not in company as you look like a fool talking to the phone in a wierd voice !
