Hotmail account has been blocked

    Went to log on and was told that the account was blocked! I have had this account for about 15 years and never any problems. To unblock the account they are asking for all sorts of details, which is going to take some time to even try to remember the answers to!

    Is this all above board? How do I know this is official and is there an easier way to unblock my account?

    Arghhhhh!!!

    This happens when someone gains access to your email and starts sending spam from it. Usually you can contact customer support if you are not in the areas covered by the "sms recovery feature".

    I have contacted the customer support, well, filled in some answers anyway, after going round in circles about resetting the password etc. I have had the account for 12-15 years and never any problems. I originally set up the account in the UK and would have had different home address and phone num etc, so I don't know if this will affect my details held by them.

    Do you know how long it takes for them to sort it out? Is there anything else I can do to speed up the process?

    I also have my Hotmail account blocked 3 days ago and despite filling out the validation access details no reply has come back from the moderators.

    Like yourself the original details given on the account were about 13yrs ago also in the UK and its now hard to give the exact information eg. postcodes,security questions.

    It's such an inconvenience as my Hotmail is used for both personal and business use.

    My fathers hotmail account has been blocked also and he uses it for work.

    If microsoft is being hacked so easy ,surely they should make an effort to help people out :confused:

    I've got my account back after over a week . I eventually got help through Windows live solution centre online.

    Hope it never happens again.

    From what I gather you have to keep asking for help.

    I used a stupid qwerty12 password and my gmail got locked out with eejits trying to login( my real gmail pass is 27 mixed characters) . I got asked a few security questions and then verified my account with my mobile phone.
